Ben Banyard is a poet and editor based in Portishead. He has published three collections of his work, often featuring aspects of life in our beautiful, friendly town. Ben also edits Black Nore Review, an online journal publishing poetry and flash fiction by people at all stages of their writing journey. BOB WALTON

Bob Walton is no stranger to Portishead: he taught English at Gordano School for 18 happy years, way back in the 20th century, from 1982-2000. Twice winner of the North American Festival of Wales Poetry Prize, he has also been highly commended twice in the Troubadour International Poetry Award. He has a PhD in Creative Writing from Cardiff University, where he taught the subject until 2022. Bob is a member of The Spoke poetry collective, regularly facilitates writing workshops and often collaborates with artists in other media. He runs the popular Under the Red Guitar poetry night in Bristol and co-runs the online Chapter One Creative Writing Group and Speakeasy Poetry Nights in association with North Somerset’s Super Culture. Bob’s second collection, Sax Burglar Blues, is published by Seren Books and his third is in preparation. |
DEBORAH HARVEY
Deborah Harvey is co-director of The Leaping Word, a poetry consultancy providing creative and editorial advice for writers, and qualified counselling support for artists exploring the personal in their work. Her poems have been widely published and broadcast on Radio 4’s Poetry Please. Her sixth poetry collection, Love the Albatross, which explores the subject of estrangement, was published by Indigo Dreams in August. Deborah runs two poetry groups and Bristol’s longest-standing open mic, Silver Street Poetry. With her fellow IsamBards, she conducts poetry walks around her native city.
