ELLEN YEATESEllen Yeates is a graduate of Falmouth School of Art and trained initially as an illustrator, later becoming a graphic designer for 10 years.
In her early years she was particularly drawn to painting the natural world, particularly influenced by the Impressionists and Pre-raphelite painters. Her best pieces always included plants and nature. However, her first career was never in line with her true love of fine art and in 2006, she decided to take a career change, stopped painting altogether and became a lawyer at a Top 70 law firm in the UK, eventually becoming a solicitor and then partner in a regional law firm. |
In late 2022, after a visit from her cousin from New Zealand who arrived unexpectedly on her doorstep along with sketch books and watercolours, she re-discovered her love of painting, and this re-ignited her passion for interpreting the natural world through sketching and oil paints. Her real inspiration now stems from how we all can learn from nature, plants and flowers to show the sacral beauty which is found there. Ellen began painting all the time she could and started her own modest gallery/studio in the market town of Shepton Mallet, which is now open to the public 3 days a week.
