Emma Laird is a fine art photographer who graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth in the summer of 2021 with a BA (Hons) in Photography. Since, she has worked in an independent gallery and artists' store in Poole, Dorset, before recently relocating to Portishead to build her career in the arts.
Tactility is a reoccurring theme within her landscape prints, she focuses on this to create the feeling of dimension within a two dimensional medium. She enjoys focusing on a singular subject in her landscapes to either evoke feeling within the minimal, or within the interpretation of different textures.
Within her personal art practice, she commonly explores personal themes, such as loss, in an effort to understand and untangle her harboured feelings towards past experiences. She often approaches this through self-portraiture, although commonly obscuring the face. Materiality is very important factor within her work, using different materials and methods to obscure or remove her identity.
