GOOD QUESTION I JAZZ
Steve’s first gig was in 1965 at Bristol Gasworks Social Club - the band earned £4 10s, which was less than a quid each! He then played in various function bands, was in a classic rock band in Southampton and three Panto bands in Southampton. A Gilbert and Sullivan production ended up with him playing at the International Gilbert and Sulivan Festival in the Opera House at Burton, a big event playing with a 20 piece professional orchestra! He eventually moved to Portishead and formed a 16 piece ukulele orchestra, the Ukulele Funhouse Orchestra, which ran for about 8 years until Covid killed it off. He has recorded and performed with Pigs Ear, playing with Annie, his wife, singing and David Wiltshire (sadly no longer with us) as his co-conspirator on guitar. He has also been part of a duo with Shane as BOF (now retitled Timeless). And he teaches guitar! Rehearsals with the Portishead Players are soon to start, for this year’s pantomime.
And now he’s been picked up by Nicola to play some good old jazz songs, just for fun It’s been a good time and it continues! |
