How it all began…
The brainchild of local resident and now independent local councillor, Nicola Holland, Portishead Arts Festival is now in its fifth year. Nicola moved to Portishead from Bristol 7 years ago and was immediately smitten by Portishead’s unique combination of location, history and thriving contemporary arts community.
Since then, ArtPort - as we now know it - has gone from strength to strength. Thanks to a dedicated band of amazing, committed local people (and one or two fantastic Bristolians who we think of as Honorary Possetonians!) ArtPort is now a fixture on the annual calendar of the south west.

“I had lived in Bristol for more than a decade and yet knew almost nothing about our close neighbour, Portishead! When I settled my young family here, I knew we had found our forever home - so much so that I became a Portishead councillor.
Portishead is definitely a town on the up and I wanted to raise its profile. We have an amazing location and a thriving resident artistic community in Somerset - an inclusive, community arts festival was an obvious choice to help us share our wonderful area with more people.”
- Nicola Holland, Director, Portishead Arts Festival.

co-produced by Mellony Taper. Made in association with ArtPort, Portishead Arts Festival. |
ArtPort is delighted to be able to share news of our exclusive new film collaboration with award-winning film maker Barry Wilkinson. ARTSTORIES is a series of short films profiling Portishead artists, continuing ArtPort’s commitment to championing the arts in our wonderful location on the edge of the Severn Sea, that continues to draw artists in search of light, unique landscape and huge skies.

ArtPort champions the artists and makers of Portishead, North Somerset and the south west. Check out some of our featured artists exhibiting at this year’s festival. All south west artists and makers! Look out for our full listings of all exhibiting artists coming soon.
