ENTRY DETAILS & TERMS AND CONDITIONS
​ Portishead Folk Hall 28th and 29th September

The competition
  1. There are two categories: (A) the theme is BS20; (B) wildlife – Go Wild!.
  2.  You can submit up to three photographs in each category.
  3. Only residents of the BS20 postcode area are eligible to enter;
  4. The BS20 category is open to amateur photographers only (defined as those who do not sell their photographs as part of a business or for personal gain). Go Wild! is open to all photographers, amateur and professional.  Persons involved with the organisation of the festival are NOT eligible to enter either category.
  5. The pictures must have been taken in North Somerset
  6.  Photos must be entirely your own work.
  7.  Entries can be submitted from Monday 19th August.
  8. The closing date for submissions is 5pm on Wednesday 18th September with the results to be displayed at the festival.
  9.  Both categories are open to all ages.
  10.  Prizes and certificates will be awarded for both categories. Details are published on the ARTPORT 24 Portishead Arts festival website.
Entry details
  1. Entries should be sent as an e-mail attachment in jpeg  format to [email protected]. (Printed submissions cannot be accepted)
  2. Your name, contact details and postcode must be included in the e-mail.
  3. Label or rename your photograph file(s) with your name and the number of the entry i.e. Jo Bloggs01, Jo Bloggs02 etc;
  4. An entry fee of £2.50 per photograph (£6.00 for an entry of 3 photographs), will be charged to cover the professional photographic printing costs. This can be paid either: (i) at Nortech Computers, 10 High Street, Portishead, Bristol. BS20 6EW; or (ii) or by using PayPal. On the PayPal Home page, press the SEND button and type in [email protected] and then put your name and pafphotocomp in the “What’s this payment for” box.
  5.  All entries must be submitted with an entry form. PayPal users must complete the appropriate entry form that can be downloaded as a Word document.  For all others, copies of the form will be available at Nortech Computers or it can be downloaded from www.portisheadartsfestival.org
Further Information
  1. Submissions can be in colour or black and white.
  2. The theme “BS20” can be broadly interpreted.
  3. The Go Wild! theme is for any local nature or wildlife pictures, but no pets please.
  4. Your files will be printed to 12x8 inch size for display and will therefore need to be at least 1.5MB in size (3500 x 2400 pixels or larger).  To ensure standardisation of the entries, the photographs will be professionally printed using the Kodak Express system at Nortech Computers (Portishead).
  5. As this is a photography competition all entries should be photographs that have been taken with a conventional digital camera or phone. The use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) or “Generative AI” features of websites or software (such as Adobe Firefly, or DALL-E) to create or modify images is not allowed. It is however acceptable to edit photos using image editing software (such as Photoshop) to remove distractions, or for the adjustment of exposure, colour, tone, etc. Note that if it is suspected that any entries make use of AI the person entering the picture may, at the discretion of the judges, be given the opportunity to prove otherwise (for example by sharing a RAW file).
  6. Entrants will, by arrangement, be able to collect their printed photographs from the Folk Hall after the conclusion of the festival.
  7.  It would be preferred that photographs do not contain any images of under 18’s unless the entry is accompanied with a written statement, by the parents/guardians/carers, giving permission to publish and publicly display the photograph. 
  8. Photographs that are not deemed suitable for public display will not be printed or displayed at the festival.  Entry fees are non-refundable so it is your own responsibility to ensure that they do not portray anything unsuitable for public display.  This includes, but is not exclusively limited to, explicit, obscene, racist, homophobic or violent images.
  9. There are no cash substitutes for the prizes/certificates that will be awarded.
  10. By entering the competition, you are accepting that ARTPORT 24 may use any of the photographs that have been submitted either online or in printed publications or for marketing purposes. You retain all copyright. The images used in this way will be credited/attributed to the photographer(s).
  11.  No discussion or correspondence will be entered into regarding the competition or any of the entries with/by any of the organisers/administrators/judges of the Festival.
