Simon McCouaig is an Army Veteran and talented artist who specialises in portraying both modern subjects and military themes. Favouring portraiture as his subject, Simon's paintings are an object lesson in precision, bringing to life the past and the present.
His commissioned works are in museums, military Messes and homes worldwide and he has won many prizes and awards in national exhibitions. Simon recently held a six week solo exhibition of his work at The Soldiers of Gloucestershire museum. Simon has completed many painting commissions for servicemen/women and their families in all three Services and as a British Army Veteran, he is able to bring that unique insight and accuracy of military life to his clients’ commissions. Whether it’s people, horses, dogs or a pewter hip flask, Simon has made a painting or drawing of it or on it! A multi published modern military illustrator, he has also illustrated several volumes for Osprey Publishing's renowned series of military publications much loved by collectors, model makers and reenactors. More recently and since becoming a veteran, Simon has started to work on a collection of paintings of local personalities within the Portishead area and works on these in between commissions. Keep an eye out for local faces on his stand at Artport! Julia McCouaig is an artist with fingers in many mediums and subjects! Currently enjoying embroidery classes and art classes online her favourite work involves birds, textiles and printing. Expect to see a very wide selection of artwork alongside her husband’s precise paintings, this is a couple at opposite ends of the art spectrum! |
