THE ATOMIC YOUTH I ALT ROCK
The Atomic Youth are a modern alt-punk duo from North Somerset comprised of Zak Slater (drummer, 15) and Ben Payne (vocalist/guitarist, 15). They combine the energy of 2000s pop punk (Bowling for Soup, Lit, Green Day) and the complexity of alt-rock (Royal Blood, Tigercub, Cleopatrick).
They have released one EP (welcome to utopia.) and are currently writing new material for an album in the future. Each song is built upon a careful balance of riffs and chords, with suitably accompanying drum rhythms, and clever lyrics. They have played Bristol venues such as The Fleece, The Thunderbolt and Rough Trade, and have also opened Nailsea Cider Festival, both the Nova stage and Abbey Stage at Keynsham Festival and Yatton Party in the Park. They have around an hour and a half of original music so far, and about half an hour of covers that have been altered to suit their style. Although they are only doing their GCSEs, they are very experienced on stage, and have a natural ability to perform, and always engage and entertain the crowd. Instead of having a bassist, the guitarist uses clever pedal usage, and splits the signal through two guitar amps, and one bass amp. |
