SIMON McCOUAIG |Simon McCouaig is an artist specialising in portraiture and military figurative art; his artistic career began whilst serving in the Forces and has continued into his life as a British Army veteran.
Completely self-taught, Simon works mainly to commission using either oils, gouache, pen/pencil or artists’ crayon. Simon has won prizes at open exhibitions in London and has illustrated 12 books for a famous military publisher. A star of modern military illustration, he has illustrated several volumes for Osprey Publishing's renowned series of military publications. Favouring portraiture as his subject, Simon's paintings are an object lesson in precision, bringing to life the past and the present seemingly effortlessly. |
His commissioned works are in museums, military messes and homes all over the world and he has won many prizes and awards in national exhibitions. Simon is also Artist in Residence of The Soldiers of Gloucestershire museum.
