Welcome to ARTSTORIES, a newly commissioned series of short films centred on the artists living and working in Portishead, on the estuary edge.
In it’s postindustrial rebirth, Portishead has become a haven for artists seeking to escape the city, who find inspiration in the light and unique landscape of the Severn Sea. ArtStories gives us a fascinating insight into the stories behind the art. At times humorous or moving, always interesting, award-winning director Barry Wilkinson uses his consummate skill as a film maker to draw out the threads of each unique story and craft a perfect little sampler of each artist and their story. Each film will be released individually through the year, culminating in an exclusive film season at this year’s ArtPort festival. The subject of our first film is Hamish Young.
