Originally from rural Carmarthenshire, Ian Price paints the Severn Estuary from his home in Portishead. Painting in oils, he uses a limited palette to capture the beauty within this often bleak landscape. Taking inspiration from his immediate environment, he often paints outdoors before developing larger or more abstracted works in the studio.
Ian is as talented a painter of people as he is of the landscape, enjoying the representational challenge of portraiture. His portraits have been exhibited in such prestigious venues as the New English Art Club at the Mall Galleries in London and the Holbourne Portrait Prize in Bath. Ian has shown work in many galleries and venues in and around Bristol and Bath including the RWA Autumn Exhibition and Bath Society of Artists Open, as well as at the Mall Galleries in London with the New English Art Club, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Society of British Artists, Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize and the ING Discerning Eye exhibition.
