Read our ArtPort Festival interview with Stephanie Gay:
Stephanie Gay paints colourful and arresting - yet beautifully delicate - images of British landscapes, flora and fauna directly onto Chinese silk. Her inspiration primarily comes from the beauty of the natural world and she enjoys experimenting with scale and context, creating works that communicate energy, enthusiasm and a sense of fun.
Born and brought up in Somerset, Stephanie returned in 2019, having lived in Berkshire for almost 30 years, settling in Portishead with her husband Andrew and miniature poodle Frankie. In 2017 she won the Berkshire and Buckinghamshire Life Landscape Painter of the Year and in 2022 she won the Polodango ‘Clevedon Artist of the Year’ competition with her painting ‘The Spirit of Clevedon’.
